Lock ’n Load Tactical is an award-winning squad-level tactical combat series. The system focuses on infantry combat from the 1930s through modern conflicts. Players command squads, leaders, support weapons, armored vehicles, and air support across detailed hex maps that represent real battlefield terrain. Each battle focuses on tactical decision-making, positioning, and coordinated attacks.
The system uses an impulse-based turn structure, which keeps both sides engaged throughout the battle. Players alternate actions as the fight develops across the battlefield. Firefights unfold step by step as units maneuver, suppress enemy forces, and push toward their objectives. Each scenario presents tense moments where careful planning and decisive action determine success or failure.
Gameplay moves quickly and requires strong tactical leadership. Leaders rally troops, direct fire, and maintain control during intense combat. Units with unique Skills gain advantages during critical moments of the battle. During the chaos of combat, a Hero may emerge. Heroes represent acts of battlefield initiative and courage, and their arrival often changes the direction of the fight.
The Lock ’n Load Tactical Starter Kit provides an entry point into the system through Tabletopia. Players receive four scenarios designed to introduce the series' mechanics and pacing. Two scenarios are based on the World War II title Heroes of Normandy. Two scenarios are based on the Vietnam War title Heroes of the Nam. Each scenario presents a different tactical challenge while teaching the fundamentals of the system.
The Lock ’n Load Tactical manual is available free in several formats, including PDF and the AI-Powered Manual. The AI-Powered Manual allows players to ask questions about the rules and receive detailed answers, along with the section in the manual where the rule appears.
Lock ’n Load Publishing follows a simple philosophy. Play the Game, Not the Rules. New players receive support through a large Boot Camp training video series available on YouTube. These step-by-step videos teach the system and guide players through the rules from start to finish.
